Luxury Retirement Community In Scottsdale Arizona
Retirement is something that many of us dream of, but it’s also met with a touch of anxiety. Where should I live? What if I need assisted living? How will I spend my days now that I am no longer working?
The traditional nursing home option is no longer the choice for today’s newest generation of seniors. Living in an active community is how we believe the mind, body and soul thrive at any age. The campus at Westminster Village is actually so popular with residents, that they have created a Future Residents Club. Those who are interested in the community can partake in the many fun activities the campus has to offer before they are ready to live there full-time. These activities include dining at the elegant five-start Donnelly’s Restaurant

, visiting the pool, enjoying the fitness facility (which includes classes like Tai Chi, yoga and water aerobics), putting on the six hole green and even skydiving for the truly adventurous!
The skydiving concept was inspired by an 83-year-old woman on the campus’s Activities Committee. She was so fond of the executive director, Bud Hart, and built such a solid friendship with him that she said she would jump out of an airplane...if he would too!
He agreed and so it began – the Westminster Skydiving Club was born.

In addition to specialized activity clubs, Hart remains active in the community, creating relationships and inspiring an exciting dynamic.
“We all find so many similarities that connect us to each other,” says Hart. “That keeps us all young.”
With all to do and see on the campus, Westminster succeeds in its goal to maintain a “Community Without Walls.” Much of the spirit of Westminster is maintained by the energetic Activities Committee which consists of 15 residents. Through their careful planning, residents have a constant selection of social, educational and popular events to choose from. For those who have always wanted to take college courses and continue their education, Arizona States University classes are brought right to the campus. For some classes, visiting professors will teach while for others, virtual classes over the Internet are used. Either way, the chance to learn new and exciting things is key to feeling fulfilled and remaining vibrant and healthy.
Another example of an educational on-campus activity occurred when the H1N1 flue was hitting the news. Throughout the nation there was a lot of confusion, rumors and miseducation taking place. The residents at Westminster however were able to address all their questions and concerns directly with a practitioner from the Mayo Clinic. Other educational guests have visited as well, including a nuclear engineer, an economics professor and a local city planner just to name a few. “Personally, I think that the feedback of our residents is a great measure of success – and we have received very good feedback so far,” says Hart.
Part of the reason Hart believes that there is such a great feeling of community at Westminster is that the lines of communication are constantly open. The community takes part in frequent “Let’s Talk” sessions where management can hear the feedback of small groups of residents. In addition, it’s common to see Hart walking around campus or sitting in his office with residents. Most of whom now consider Hart a dear friend and he honors that friendship just as much as they do. While he admits its hard work maintaining a community like Westminster, he is not complaining in the least.
Aside from the overall social aspect of the community, the additional property features ensure that residents are inspired to keep active. These include the gym, wellness center, educational classes, walking trails, the pool, golfing and a home health agency. Within the community, there is also a dry cleaning service and even a mini convenient store.
For foodies, the grill, five-star restaurant and the many dining rooms will satisfy even the most discerning pallet.
Westminster offers many levels of care within the community to meet the needs of every resident. Many live independently while others require around -the-clock care. For this reason, we offer the following: the wellness center, home health services, assisted living, skilled nursing care and Alzheimer/dementia care. The outpatient services of fered at the wellness center allows residents to visit a licensed practical nurse for a variety of general practice check-ups including vital sign checks, weight monitoring, flu vaccinations, lab tests and many others. If prescriptions are needed, the center will contact the resident’s primary care physician so that treatment can begin.
With all the activities, beautiful housing options, support and health care Westminster Village provides a life care community that feels more like a resort.
For those who would like to have company, there are guest suite accommodations for friends and family. There is also a private dining room that is available for family gatherings and special parties.
If you are an animal lover, the 500 gallon aquarium is a great chance to see some underwater life and if you venture to the Secret Garden on campus you will meet Bruno the African tortoise.
